Adafruit Feather

I seem to be having trouble with the Feather Examples. I've breadboarded and proto boarded the examples, but I'm having trouble sending or receiving from an ESP8266 Feather. Testing with a City Theatrical DMX cat to both send and receive DMX.

I tried with regular 5v MAX485 chips, as well as w/ 3.3V chips (powered from the 3.3v rail instead of the 5v rail)

Are these sketches still working? Are the Hardware examples correct?

I may have spoken too soon, I am now able to receive dmx using the RDM Device Test example sketch.
