Re: striplights: I wanted to use a set of Par 56 striplights on a Cyc Electric to light a cyclorama. There seem to be two symbols: one open ended and one closed on the right side. They each are about 4' long. How would they allow me to show the three colors? Use one of each symbol for each color? All the other symbols are so intuitively easy, I fear I am missing something elementary here.

Yes, that;s how you do it. One symbol for each circuit. Striplights are a bit of an exception. Take a look at the example plot from the Help menu.
You will probably need to assign your own instrument numbers, depending on how you want to refer to each circuit. Luckily, the Inspector's Tools tab lets you do this fairly quickly. (I usually shut off automatic numbering on striplight positions.)
