Hey there,
does anyone have a clue if LXConsole is OS X 10.11 compatible yet?

I came here to ask the same question!
I see from the release notes that work is being done to support the native Apple driver with the ENTTEC DMX USB Pro - but also that ENTTEC didn't recommend it.
Can someone tell us more about the situation? I'd like to upgrade my MacBook Pro to 10.11 - but I'll hold off a while longer if LXConsole does not yet work well with the new OS.
Thank you!

The latest build of LXConsole works with the Apple FTDI USB driver. Some of the stability advantages of the D2XX driver are now taken care of when using the 10.11 version of the Apple virtual com port driver.
The best advice on what driver to use should probably come from ENTTEC. Both drivers are supported by LXConsole. However, it remains true that in order to use the D2XX driver, you must disable the Apple driver.

FTDI has addressed the issue of Apple's driver blocking the D2XX driver.
See http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm which says:
"If using a device with standard FTDI vendor and product identifiers, install D2xxHelper to prevent OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) claiming the device as a serial port (locking out D2XX programs)."
The FTDI Driver Installation Guide (PDF) is here:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documen ... AC_OSX.pdf
The installation guide explains about disabling or blocking the Apple driver.
The Apple driver is better than it used to be. But there are still issues with connecting to FTDI based devices through a serial port on OS X. At this time there are no reports of problems with ENTTEC devices and the Apple driver. However, the D2XX connection has been proven more reliable over time. The disadvantage to blocking Apple's driver and using D2XX is that while LXConsole will work just fine, other software that expects to connect to an FTDI device through a serial port may not.
