How patch an automatic light with Lxbeam for Lxconsole

Post by AlrIk »

Hi,
Last time when we meet in Sweden, you show a way to patch an automatic in Lxbeam, and use the script "send to console" to have the patch in Lxconsole, and just adjust the dimmer. But i can't find how you did :? . Can you explain another time?
I have to use two PAR LED TRI.

Thank's

To setup LXConsole using LXBeams, you draw out the plot in LXBeams. Channel and dimmer assignments need to be made for the patch to be correct when it is imported into LXConsole. Optionally, you can import "group" and "use" information as well. There are two ways to move the setup from LXBeams to LXConsole. One is to use (script menu)->control-console->Setup LXConsole to run an AppleScript that generates and transfers the information. The other method is to use File->Share->Export Channel Data... to create a file and then in LXConsole use File->Import->Channel Data to read it.

AppleScript communication between applications may be discontinued in future OS-X versions. Already there are moves in this direction in 10.8, Mountain Lion. So, while the script method is more convenient, the export/import method exists as well.

If you are seeking information about subchannels and setting up a key entry, take a look at the "Creating custom symbols" thread in the "LXSeries Mac Support" discussion.

Sending the channel setup to LXConsole from LXBeams works well when you have the entire plot in LXBeams along with the dimmer addresses, etc. But, perhaps not so well if you have your setup going in LXConsole and just want to patch a single fixture.

So, the latest build adds the ability to export just a single channel. You select a light you want to export. (It is best if you have at the minimum assigned a channel and dimmer address to it.) Choose File->Share->Export Channel Data... and then choose "lxchannel" --not "lxchannels"-- from the popup of file types. Then, in LXConsole, you control-click the channel you want to setup; choose "Setup Channel" and on the left side of the channel setup sheet, click the "import" button.

You must assign a channel in LXBeams for this to work. However, the channel number does not need to match in LXConsole. If you select "Patch" when importing into LXConsole, then the dimmer--expanded by any sub channels--will be set correctly in LXConsole.

Hi Alrik!

I think Ive managed to understand this at last.
It could be simpler I guess but once you understand the steps included it makes some sense. Hopefully one remembers from time to time how it was done... I dare the challenge, so send me the DMX setup Alrik, and Ill help you if I can.

Ive been quite busy myself lately expanding my symbollibrary with a bunch of various LEDs.
Its very nice when you get them to work as intended and can use a rough RGB colourpicker to set them at approximate values.
:)
