10.8 : should we use the 2.5 [beta] or 2.4 ?

Post by pagaille »

Question says all : which version should I use for maximum stability ?

I wish I could install Lion or even Snow but the latest MBP doesn't support anything else than 10.8.

Thanks

Matthieu

PS/ TFor those wondering why the new MBP aren't compatible with 10.7, his is due to the new motherboard architecture (Ivy Bridge if I remember) that needs a specially patched kernel, which only 10.8 has. It looks like the Hackintosh community has the solution but I don't have time to investigate.

The only differences between the 10.8 version and the older version is that the 10.8 version is built using a newer version of XCode and the application is signed. This means that 10.8 will not reject running or installing it. You can run the other non-signed version on 10.8 but you have to disable GateKeeper. The version was labeled "beta" because sometimes there are unforseen things that happen with a new version of XCode. There do not appear to be any issues with this version. In fact, it will become the release version once support for the new ENTTEC Pro 2 interface is confirmed.
