OSC command line echo

Post by admin »

Original question from other thread:

============================================
I have gotten mine to work but it can be finicky.

Get your computers IP Address via the Network panel and use that for the IP in LXConsole. Make sure you quit all running iOS touch OSC apps.

I run into trouble when I use my iPhone and iPad at the same time. Seems to loose the connection.

I do have one question for Claude. I can't seem to get the cmdline field to have data show up on my TouchOSC enable devices. I have a label field named cmdline, with a message /1/cmdline

My outgoing OSC in LXConsole is set to 10.0.1.23:9000 and shows up in the message window. I have 9000 as my in address in the touchOSC device. Perhaps I need to add the IP to that so that it is the same as LXConsole. 10.0.1.23:9000 I'll try that.

Do you have any other guidance so I can see what is in the command line from my iPad/iPhone?

Thanks

If you use the LXConsole Remote TouchOSC layout that comes with LXConsole, does the command line echo work?

In TouchOSC, the IPAddress for send and receive should match. If TouchOSC's Local IP address starts with "10." (as in something like 10.20.30.40) Then it should work. If TouchOSC's address is something different, then you probably need to match that with an address from the MacBook, assuming you have more than a single 10.n.n.n IP connection set in Network Preferences.

It would help to know all of the hosts available to LXConsole. If you go in the Preferences and to the OSC tab and refresh the connection popup, what is the complete list of available addresses?

TouchOSC Command line

Post by nizer »

I got it to work by putting in TouchOSC in the LXConsole out port.

I thought I tried this a million times before.

I don't see a way in TouchOSC for IP in and out to be specified. Only the one place to assign a single IP.

SO COOL!!!!!!

TouchOSC command line oddity

Post by nizer »

So it now works using TouchOSC as the outgoing OSC port. The odd thing is when I quit and open LXConsole OSC works for input, but the External-OSC Out has a dash by it and not a checkbox. Once I manually uncheck it then recheck it the command line out works again.

LXConsole connects to TouchOSC using Bonjour. When the connection is lost, the menu will show a dash rather than a check. To get it to search for the connection again, you just need to turn it off and back on.
