Problems with LX Console and QLAB3 using MIDI

Post by Dutchdan »

Hey People,

I keep running into the same problem so I was wondering if anyone knows the solution or has run into the same problem.

Basically it’s this:
I want to run LX Console as my lighting desk through QLab 3. I’ve made sure all the parameters are set, and are both equal in both programs. When I fire the GO in QLab, it fires the corresponding cue in LX.
Then the problem happens: once the running cue is almost finished, around the 70-75% mark, it starts to slow down and ultimately gets stuck around 82%.
I then takes ages to get to 100%.
(It gets there in the end though, but you can’t use it during a show obviously….).

Thinking it had to do with RAM/ or CPU speed, I’ve done a couple of the things you can do to free those up, but to no avail.

Anybody has an idea? Many many thanks…..DD

OS X Yosemite 10.10
QLAB 3.1.17
LX Console 4.1.0

This sounds like a problem with the output interface rather than something to do with MIDI or QLab. If all you are doing is to trigger a cue, then once it is started, MIDI and QLab have nothing more to do with it unless you are dong something fancier like controlling the fade percentage.

One thing you can do is to open /Applications/Utillities/Console.app and check for diagnostic messages. You can also disable DMX output and run the same cue and see if it behaves the same or differently.

You can also email both the LXConsole and QLab files and we can try to duplicate the problem. But, check the output interface for your setup first.

Hiya,

yeah I though it must've been something else then QLab or Mdi, but wasn't sure what.
I checked console and did see a diagnostic report, stating the following:
"MIDIServer: feedback loop from MIDI source 0x7fbbd8c17350"

So, somethings up haha, but I'm not really sure what this entails...

All said and done tho, I tried using OSC between the two and it worked a treat......so its all ready for the performance as it stands, but it irks me that I couldn't get this MIDI connection going. (Other aspects of MIDI in LX have given me no bother at all....)

Again, many thanks,
DD

what are your settings in Apple Audio/Midi setup?

What DMX device are you using?
