curved positions

I thought that "convert line to position" might work to make a curved lighting position as found in many front of house bridges but it does not seem to do this. Is there someway to get a curved lighting position?

In 1.9.6 (5331) is is possible to convert a curved line or a path object into a position.

These path type positions always layout from the start point of the path. If you map a path type position , the mapping of symbols attached to the position is based on the offset of the start point to the mapped start point.
