I have an Enttec ODE connected in my wifinet.
Its found and reacts at artnet if its sent from the NMU (node management unit) But when LXConsole, connected to that same wifi tries to send to the same ip address, subnet and universe, nothing happens.
What am I missing here?
No artnet over wifi.

What is the IPAdress of the Mac's WiFi connection? And, which address is LXConsole set to use in the DMX Info tab?
If LXConsole is using DHCP, it is likely that it has an address like 192.168.1.5 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. The Mac Needs to have a static IP address starting with 10 e.g. 10.20.30.5 and subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.
It is likely that your IPAddress/subnet combination are not allowing you send messages to the ODE. Or, you have another network connection selected in the DMX Info tab.
The ODE configuration software uses other protocols besides ArtNet to find and communicate with the ODE. It looks as though it is broadcasting to the over all broadcast address of 255.255.255.255. That may work if you set that address as the uncial address in the DMX Out tab.

Both ways work
I tried both alternatives and they both work for LXConsole sending Artnet.
But as I gave myself a static IP I also lost connection to the internet. So Ill go with the latter - 255.255.255.255. That way I can run the lights while I'm webbrowsing...
Thanks for fast reply!

Using 255.255.255.255 may work but it may not be the best idea. Usually that address is used for devices to find each other and perhaps agree on another address to use to talk. Every device on the local network listens to that address and will have to sort through the Art-Net packets, possibly slowing the network.
Your internet connection doesn't work because the 10.n.n.n address is not passed on by the router. So, you need both a DHCP connection and a static 10.n.n.n connection to use for Art-Net. You can create more than one using the OS X System Preferences Network panel. When you click the + button below the list of services, you are asked what interface to use. You can create more than one service linked to the same interface. For example, you can have both DHCP and a static address linked to the WiFi interface.
The trick is to make sure the computer uses the right interface for the right task. In LXConsole's DMX Info tab, you can specify which service (identified by IP address) will be used for Art-Net. Sometimes, Safari also tries to use this service and can't load a web page. It seems like using the Network Preferences pane; choosing "Set Service Order"; and placing the DHCP connection higher in the list than the Art-Net one helps Safari connect using DHCP.
For use during a show, it is advisable to shut off any external connection to the greater internet. (Use the Network Preferences and make the DHCP connection inactive. Don't forget to click "Apply") Figure 53 has a great page on the QLab website about prepping a computer for show use. WiFi can sometimes be unreliable. Some routers do not support a particular type of Address Resolution Protocol which causes OS X to stop processing packets briefly--most likely as a security measure against spoofing. With Art-Net there are lots of packets and one missed one is usually not a problem. However, a missed packet that happens to be an OSC cue trigger that is dropped can be a problem. Wired ethernet seems more reliable with less dropped packets. So, unless necessary, I'd avoid running a show on WiFi if at all possible.
